Springtime --More Than Just the Heyday of Life

So, as I mentioned in our first post, Dennis and I chose the name Springtime Ministries as a reflection of our inner man growing younger and stronger each day. But there was another reason, too.

In the first chapter of Jeremiah, when God gave the prophet a vision, He asked him, "What do you see?" Jeremiah answered, "I see an almond branch." And the Lord said, "You are seeing correctly--for I will hasten my word to perform it." (I am paraphrasing.)

You see, almond trees are among the early bloomers in the Holy Land. They are the first beautiful harbingers of spring! That is why almond trees are such a perfect reflection of how God is faithful to perform His Word. Although sometimes His "hastening" seems slow to us, nonetheless it is sure. He will do what He has said! Always!

Many years ago someone wounded me so deeply that I fell into a deep dark depression. As I lay on my bed with my heart and spirit broken, fear began to take hold of me. My paternal grandmother had suffered a debilitating nervous breakdown from which she never recovered; now, I wondered, was history about to repeat itself? Did my genes have a propensity for a nervous breakdown like my grandmother's?

I kid you not. My limbs felt paralyzed. I literally couldn't move, try as I might. Then, from somewhere deep within me, verses I had memorized began to bubble up--on their own. They came from my innermost being and traversed my body to my lips and mind. And as each verse made its way through my being, my limbs slowly began to loosen and regain their ability to move. God's Word did not return to Him void--it healed me! Not only was I able to get up and function physically, but God restored my wounded soul!

Nothing is impossible with God! His Word is all powerful. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, more powerful than the Word of God. Read it. Imbibe it. Let it fill your mind and soul--and you will reap a harvest of blessings greater than anything you can imagine! It will bring springtime to your soul!
